History

CASVA, Centro di Alti Studi sulle Arti Visive (the Centre for Advanced Studies of Visual Arts), currently hosted within the Sforza Castle, is a recently established cultural institute of the City of Milan. Founded in 1999, it started its activities in 2002.
Over time the Centre began to take shape as the "archive of archives for architects" who worked mainly in the area of Lombardy, and became a centre for the studies of architecture, design, graphic design, figurative arts and the visual arts as a whole, with a particular focus on the cultural developments of the 20th and 21st centuries that have shaped our society.
