Andrea Disertori was not only an architect, but also a bookplate designer and scholar of the history of Italian furniture. From the 1950s the architect’s most interesting work was in the field of prefabrication. He worked on various types of structures, including kindergartens, detached houses, the addition of stories to buildings and mountain refuges. His projects developed for architectural competitions were also distinguished by innovative features, such as the design for the 1957 National Architecture Award "Lago Maggiore", divided into two proposals: a detached house (winner of the second section of the competition) and an apartment block. His projects for residential buildings, both single family units and apartments, included the development of various public housing estates for organisations such as IACP, GESCAL and INA-Casa, the workhorse of Italian design in the 1950s.
